2012-13
Played in 30 games as a junior and started on 29 occasions…averaged 6.9 points and 6.8 rebounds…was 10th in the league in rebounding and eighth in offensive boards with 2.5…had six games with at least 10 rebounds…tied his career-high with 14 boards against UNCW in the team’s final regular-season game…scored a season-high 15 points in the win at Penn…recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds at Northeastern and now has six in his career…reached double figures in scoring on seven occasions…led the team with 20 blocked shots…swatted away three shots in road wins at George Mason and at Hofstra…begins his senior year with 670 career points and 613 rebounds…is just 26 rebounds shy of breaking into Drexel’s career top 20.
2011-12
Drexel’s first big man off the bench…played in every game as a sophomore…chipped in with 5.6 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per contest…shot .503 from the floor…closed the season with a 17-point performance in the National Invitation Tournament quarterfinals against UMass…shot 8-for-10 from the floor and also had seven rebounds…scored a career-best 18 points at William & Mary and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the line…had five games with at least 10 points…snared seven or more rebounds on 13 occasions…grabbed nine boards against Winthrop in the Paradise Jam and in the win vs. VCU…had a career-high five steals at Towson…blocked three shots on three occasions and ended the year with 20 blocks.
2010-11
Named to the CAA All-Rookie Team as a freshman…was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week on five occasions, the most ever for a Drexel men’s basketball player… led all CAA rookies in rebounding with 7.4 per game and was the third highest scoring freshman with 8.4 points per game despite coming off the bench…ranked seventh in the CAA in rebounding and was fifth in offensive rebounding with just under three per game…recorded five double-doubles, including a 15-point, 14-rebound performance in the win at Hofstra…nailed two key free throws with 9.7 seconds left in that game…had 16 points and 13 rebounds at UNCW…also scored 16 points against William & Mary and in the first meeting vs. Hofstra…scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds in his second collegiate game against Penn…shot .519 from the floor and reached double figures in scoring 12 times.
Background
A power forward from outside of Boston, Mass…played his final season at New Hampton Prep in New Hampshire under head coach Peter Hutchins…ranked as the 16th-best fifth year player in the country by Hoop Scoop…a NEPSCAC Honorable Mention selection after averaging 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists…prior to New Hampton, he played at Stoughton High School, where he was a Boston Globe All-Scholastic pick…averaged 15.6 points, 12 rebounds and 3.5 blocks as a junior, when he was the Hockomock League Most Valuable Player…son of Darrin and Lisa Ruffin…is one of four children…majoring in communications.
