
Drexel Defeats Northeastern, 61-53, for 10th straight win

Boston, Mass. – Damion Lee scored a career-high 25 points as Drexel held off Northeastern, 61-53, for its 10th straight victory. Lee was 11-for-13 from the line as the Dragons won their 18th game of the season.
The Dragons (18-5, 10-2 CAA) found themselves in a close game as Northeastern battled back from an early deficit. Lee was continually fouled in the late going and came through from the line. Drexel shots 17-for-19 from the stripe in the final 20 minutes.
Northeastern (11-11, 7-5) stayed in the game by making five of its 13 long range attempts. Drexel came into the game ranked first in the nation in field goal defense. The Huskies shot 44 percent from the field and forced 14 Dragons' turnovers, including three to start the second half.
The Dragons opened up a 14-5 lead in the early going and led by as many as 10 points in the first half. Damion Lee had 10 points in the first seven minutes including a pair of three pointers. The Huskies rallied and had back to back three-pointers by Quincy Ford to cut the deficit to just three points at 21-18. Right before the half, Kashief Edwards scored on a runner as the buzzer sounded to make get Northeastern to within a point at intermission. Drexel shot 39 percent in the half, while the Huskies made eight of their 17 attempts (.471) from the floor.
Frantz Massenat scored 12 points and handed out seven assists in the victory. Lee added a team-high eight rebounds. Once again the Dragons controlled the boards, outrebounding the Huskies by 10.
Drexel will play its second straight road game on Saturday night at Towson. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Towson Center. The game can be seen live on ESPN3.
