FAIRFAX, Va. - The Drexel men's tennis team concluded its regular season on Friday with a visit to George Mason, falling 7-0 to the host Patriots. George Mason won all three doubles matches, then got wins in each of the six singles matches to sweep the overall match.
Paul Stauskas at No. 5 put up the strongest fight for Drexel, which was without its originally-scheduled No. 3 player Skyler Davis. Stauskas moved up a spot in Davis' absence, and won the first set 7-6 before dropping the second, 6-1. He then was edged in a dramatic tiebreaker, 13-11 to drop the match.
After missing two matches with an injury, Bryan Nguyen returned and played in the No. 3 spot after Davis was scratched. He dropped the first set 6-3, then made the second set competitive before falling, 7-5.
Drexel will next be in action at the CAA Championships, to be held in Richmond next week. More information on pairings and schedules will be available as the week progresses.
