
Dan Baker to be inducted to Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame

Philadelphia - Dan Baker, the voice of the Drexel men's basketball team for the last 15 years before retiring in June, will be inducted to the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in November. Baker will enter as the Legacy of Excellence recipient for his outstanding career as a broadcaster and a public address announcer.
Baker has been the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies since 1972 and the Philadelphia Eagles since 1985. He has worked five World Series, two M.L.B All-Star Games and three N.F.C Championship games. He is the longest tenured public address announcer in baseball. A former Executive Director of the Big 5 from 1981 to 1996, Baker was inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame in 1997. He broadcasted Big 5 games for 21 years beginning in 1977 before coming to Drexel.
Baker will be one of 16 people inducted in the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame's ninth class on Thursday November 8, 2012 at the Society Hill Sheraton. The list of inductees includes Mike Piazza, Johnny Callison, Baseball Hall of Famer Eddie Plank, Eric Lindross, Doug Collins and Joe Klecko among others.
