HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Drexel field hockey squad defeated James Madison, 1-0, in overtime on Sunday afternoon. Senior co-captain Elise DiDonato found the back of the cage in the 72nd minute of the contest moving the Dragons to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Dukes dropped to 2-2 in league play.

After 70 minutes of competitive play and strong defensive efforts on both sides of the field, the Dragons held a 9-7 advantage in shots against the Dukes entering overtime. With 72:55 showing on the clock, senior co-captain Kristen Focht connected with sophomore Lauren Hibshman inside James Madison's circle. DiDonato received a pass from Hibshman before sending the ball past opposing goalkeeper Stephanie Tarafas into the left corner of the cage. DiDonato's goal marked her fourth game-winner of the season.

DiDonato, junior Christina Conrad and sophomore Danielle Grassi paced the attack with two shots each on Sunday against James Madison. Junior Jenna Knouse and senior co-captain Lindsay McArdle also registered shots on goal in Drexel's offensive push throughout the game.

Junior goalkeeper Jantien Gunter recorded four crucial saves against the Dukes. Gunter, the CAA Player of the Week honoree, earned her fourth shutout of the season. She now has 10 career shutouts at Drexel. Stephanie Tarafas made six saves for the Dukes.

Drexel will host its final two regular season contests at Buckley Field next weekend. The Dragons will take on conference rival Delaware on Friday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. before playing Towson on Sunday.
