Palik Earns CAA Title and Cimato Takes Second to Both Advance to NCAAs

Boston, Mass. – Two Dragons earned their way to the NCAA championships in two weeks after strong performances at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, hosted by Boston University. Senior Frank Cimato and redshirt junior Brandon Palik will head to Des Moines, Iowa to compete for an NCAA title.
Palik earned his first CAA title after defeating the No. 4 ranked wrestler in the country in Nathan Schieder of Binghamton, 3-2. Palik also had an 11-0 major decision over Old Dominion's Jacob Henderson.
Cimato took second place in the 141 weight class by earning victories over Sahid Kargbo of George Mason and Luke Vaith of Hofstra. Cimato came from behind and with only five seconds remaining took down Vaith to secure an 11-10 victory and earn a trip to the NCAA tournament.
Bryan Sternlieb progressed to semifinals at 184 before falling to Rider's Ryan Wolfe in a 5-4 decision. Despite losing his first match, Kevin Matyas won in wrestle-backs to progress to consolidation semifinals before losing a 3-2 decision to Boston U's Kyle Czarnecki.
Be sure to follow Palik's and Cimato's performance in the NCAA Championships. The national tournament will be held March 21-23.
