Philadelphia – Daryl McCoy made his last DAC appearance a memorable one as Drexel defeated UNCW, 62-46, on Senior Night. McCoy led Drexel with 13 points and added 17 rebounds in the win as Drexel evened its CAA record to 9-9 on the season.

The Dragons struggled from the floor all night, but were still able to open up a five-point lead at intermission. UNCW scored four of the first five points in the second half, but the Dragons responded with an 11-0 run and did not trail the rest of the night. The Seahawks weren't able to get any closer the rest of the way.

Drexel shot just 30.6 percent in the contest, but made up for it by its work on the glass. The Dragons outrebounded UNCW, 56-28. McCoy's 17 rebounds were the second highest total of his career. Dartaye Ruffin set his career-high with 14 rebounds. The Dragons had 20 offensive boards in the game and had 18 second-chance points, while the Seahawks were held scoreless in that category. The Dragons were 19-for-25 from the line and made all but one of their 13 free throw attempts in the second half.

Damion Lee added 12 points for Drexel, while senior Derrick Thomas scored 11 in his final home appearance. Frantz Massenat had four three assists in the game and went over the 400 career assist mark. Keith Rendleman led UNCW with 24 points and 10 rebounds. He was 11-for-17 from the floor. The rest of his teammates shot just 8-for-37 in the contest.
Drexel will begin the CAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Richmond Coliseum. The Dragons will be the fifth seed and will face fourth-seed George Mason at 3:30 p.m. The winner will face Northeastern in the CAA Semifinals next Sunday, March 10.
