Men's and Women's Tennis Upset at Home

PHILADELPHIA - The men's and women's tennis team's each had upsets at home on Thursday, as St. Joseph's defeated the men, 4-3, and the women, 5-2. The loss city rival Hawks drops the men to 7-5 on the season and the women to 9-5.
In doubles for the men, Jeganathan Srinivasan and Daniel Hansen picked up the only win for the Dragons as they went a close, 8-6, against the Hawks. The win was not enough to give the Dragons the doubles point, but the team rallied for singles competition in an attempt to secure a victory.
No. 1 Badr Ouabdelmoumen confidently completed his match against St. Joseph's Jose Sierra in two sets for the win, 6-1, 6-2. The next win came from the No. 4 position, as Daniel Koehler fought a tough three sets and went, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Alex Fioravante soon followed in No. 6 where he was also victorious in his match, 7-5, 6-4. The men fell just short of the win, but were relentless in their attack on the Hawks.
For the women, teammates Nicole Pivonka and Emma Brook smashed home an, 8-2, win against the Hawk's, as they had the only win in doubles at No. 2.
In singles play, No. 3 Marcela Rosales used aggressive play and strong hits to secure her two set upset of the Hawks Kristina Eisenbrand, 6-0, 6-1. Right behind Rosales,Emma Brook won her match with experience and skill, as she defeated Devi Jadeja, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
The Dragons are back in action as they kick off senior day at home against the Delaware Blue Hens. The match is schedule for Saturday, April 6 at 12:00 p.m.
