Men's and Women's Tennis Split Match a Home

PHILADELPHIA - The men's and women's tennis teams split their match against Delaware. The men managed to take down the Blue Hens for the first time in school history, 3-4, while the women fell just short, 5-2. The men improve their record to 8-5, and the women hold a a, 9-6 overall.
The Drexel men battled Delaware to the wire for the ultimate victory on Saturday. In doubles play, Badr Ouabdelmoumen and Xabier Saavedra captured the only win for the Dragons, 8-7, but the team could not get another win for the point.
Singles action proved to be the pull through for Drexel as Ouabdelmoumen kicked off the team with a win. After dropping the No. 2 position, the Dragons rallied and defeated their opponents in positions three through 5. Skyler Davis, Daniel Koehler, and Xabier Saavedra each won their matches and gave the team exactly what it needed for the overall win.
On the women's side, the day started out in the women's favor, as the team won the doubles point. Teammates Zeynep Mafa and Marcela Rosales completed their match, 8-5, while Nicole Pivonka and Emma Brook finished, 9-8.
Going into singles play, the outcome looked in the Dragons advantage as Mafa took down her opponent, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Unfortunately for the remained of the match, the team would end up losing in Nos. 2 through 6, to give the Blue Hens the win.
Up next for the Dragons, Friday April 19 through 23, the team will compete in the Colonial Athletic Assocation Championships.
