McDonald Scores First Career Goal as Women’s Soccer Blanks Air Force, 1-0

USAF Academy, Colo. – The Drexel women's soccer team improved to 4-4-1 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Air Force on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons and junior keeper Eve Badana earned their third shutout of the season as they held the Falcons scoreless.

The shutout marks the 16th of Badana's career, which is just one shy of Drexel's all-time leader Kaitlin Bond (2005-2008) who holds the record with 17.

Air Force had their first opportunity to score 11 minutes in as Gabriella Gray made an attempt that went high. Drexel was able to get five shots off in the first 20 minutes, but to no avail. With 21 minutes remaining in the half, Air Force's Megan Dozier made another strong attempt for the Falcons but Badana came up with a point blank save to keep Air Force off the board.

Freshman Maddy Moyer had two chances to get the Dragons on the board before halftime but both shots went high.

Redshirt freshman Colleen McDonald was finally able to get the Dragons on the board and break the scoreless streak in the 65th minute as she scored her first career goal to give Drexel the lead. Shyanne Kimbrough fed the ball to McDonald from the left side of the box, which allowed McDonald to put the shot over the keeper for the goal. The Falcons were not able to retaliate in the remaining 25 minutes allowing the Dragons to pick up their fourth win of the season.

Drexel edged out Air Force on shots, outshooting them 14-13. Badana tallied five saves in the victory, while Falcons' goalie Kelly Stambaugh finished with six on the game.

The Dragons return home to host La Salle on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. as a part of Drexel's Welcome Back Week festivities. A live stream of the game will be available through Drexel Game Central.
