Hollie Mershon to Join Lithuanian Pro Team

PHILADELPHIA - Drexel women's basketball alumna Hollie Mershon signed a contract with Kibirkstis-Vici out of Vilnius, Lithuania earlier this week, and will begin her career as a professional basketball player in Europe later this week. Kibirkstis-Vici is a member of the Euroleague Women, the most prestigious women's basketball league in Europe.
Kibirkstis-Vici begins its season on November 6 in Polkowice, Poland and has a season that runs through February 26.
"I am very excited that I have the opportunity to continue my career," Mershon wrote in a blog, which was linked through the Dragons Den. "I was very hesitant to leave the country and start a new journey but at this point I honestly feel like this is what I should be doing."
Mershon led the Dragons to the Women's National Invitation Tournament championship in her senior season. She left Drexel as the only player in program history with 1,600 career points and 300 career steals, and was named the WNIT Most Valuable Player, a First Team All-CAA selection and the CAA's Dean Ehlers Leadership Award recipient.
