Crew Notches a Top 10 Finish at Head of the Charles Regatta

BOSTON, Mass. – Drexel Crew continued its success at the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boston, Mass. this weekend, concluding on Sunday, Oct. 19.
The Dragons' men's varsity eight followed up its gold medal from a year ago with another top 10 finish. In the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat, they finished 10th out of 44 boats with a time of 15:49.40. Michigan took the top spot with a 15:14.73.
Drexel's women's second varsity eight started off competition for the Dragons on Saturday in the Maria Papadakis boat. They finished an impressive 15th out of 34 boats, crossing the finish line at 17:30.88. Brown claimed the top spot with a 16:09.90.
On Sunday, the men's second varsity eight took to the Charles River in the Lois Krall boat and finished 21st out of 36 boats with a time of 15:12.23. Craftsbury bested the field with a 14:20.23
The women's varsity eight, which finished 24th last year at this event, raced in the Marlene Buckley II boat and finished 29th out of 34 boats. They finished with a time of 18:06.74, while the winner, Cambridge, rowed to a 15:44.79.
Last year, the men's varsity eight won gold, topping a field of 40 boats for the best finish at the Head of the Charles Regatta in program history.
