Squash Bested by No. 6/9 Columbia

PHILADELPHIA - The men's and women's squash teams were defeated by the visting Lions of Columbia in the 2014-15 home-opener. The men (0-2) fell 8-1 to No. 6 Columbia (1-0). The women (0-2) lost 7-2 to No. 9 Columbia (1-0).
Ryan Morgan swept Maya Patel to earn her first win of her career (11-8, 11-6, 13-11). Alisha Maity won in three games over Laura Rahauser (11-5,11-4, 11-9). Kaitlyn Money pushed her match with Kate Calihan to four games after winning the third 11-5 but fell 11-8 in the fourth. Columbia held a 3-1 leading heading into the second half of matches. Elisa Money held a 2-1 lead heading into the the final two sets but Catherine Jenkins won the last two games 12-10 and 11-6 to get the Lions a 4-1 cushion. Leah Barnet secured the win for the Lions with her win over Kiran Vasudevan. Courtney Sabo got the second win for the Dragons with her four game win over Sareen Ahmar (11-6, 8-11, 11-3, 11-7).
Columbia went 4-for-4 of the first half of matches. Mark Kauf was the lone Dragon not to get swept, losing 3-1 to Josh Sekhar. Luke Willemse got the Dragons on the board with his 3-1 win over Rishi Tandon (11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 11-9). Sebastian Dangood pushed was up 2-0 in his match with Jonathan Gill but Gill won three straight to take the match 3-2.
The Dragons are back in action on December 3 when they travel to Princton. The men will start at 5:30 p.m. and the women follow at 7:30.
