Wrestling Concludes Competition at Keystone Classic

FINAL BRACKET
PHILADELPHIA - Competition concluded at the 2014 Keystone Classic hosted by Penn at the Palestra on Sunday evening as Drexel's Kevin Devoy Jr. was crowned the 133 pound champion.
Devoy defeated Appalachian State's Vito Pasone by technical fall in the first round and then moved on to earn a major decision over Alonzo Shepherd of Indiana. In the semifinals, Devoy earned a 6-1 decision over Northwestern's Dominic Malone to advance to the finals match. There he defeated Rider's Robert Deutsch to secure a first place finish in the 133 pound weight class.
Matthew Cimato and Noel Blanco also highlighted the tournament with fifth place finishes in the 149 pound and 157 pound weight classes, respectively. Cimato earned major decisions over Jeff Canfora of Penn and Rico Stormer of Harvard before falling to Pitt's Mike Racciato in the quarterfinals. Cimato then navigated his way through the consolation rounds, defeating Stanford's Garrett Schaner and Bloomsburg's Kevin Laubach to advance to the consolation semifinals. Rider's Bryant Clagon earned a 11-3 major decison against him in the semis, but Cimato was able to place in the top-five of his weight class as Pitt's Racciato forfeited in the match for fifth place.
Blanco was also able to place in the top-five at 157 pounds. He earned a 2-1 decision over Indiana's Alex Gregory to advance to the quarterfinals against Penn's Maaziah Bethea. He went on to defeat Bethea in sudden victory with a 6-4 decision. In the semifinals, Blanco fell to Pitt's Ronnie Garbinsk but was then able to work his way through the consolation rounds to earn a fifth place finish.
Drexel Wrestling returns to the mat on Dec. 6 when it travels to Evanston, Ill. to compete at the Windy City Duals.
