Towson, Md. – Jerrelle Benimon scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the second half and Towson (14-8, 5-2) shot 67 percent in the second half to beat Drexel, 75-73. With the loss, the Dragons fell to 11-10 overall and 3-5 in Colonial Athletic Association play.

Benimon was quiet in the first half, scoring just five points and spending some time on the bench with two fouls. However, in the second half the Georgetown transfer was 7-for-9 from the floor and made all but one of his free throw attempts. Towson led for majority of the game, but Drexel went ahead 48-46 on a Kazembe Abif jump shot with 10:39 remaining. Towson went on a mini 5-0 run minutes later, and would not give up the lead the rest of the way.

The final portion of the game turned into a foul shooting contest, and the Tigers took advantage. They made 17 of their 20 second-half free throws. The Dragons didn't shoot it bad either, but missed four free throws in the final five minutes, enabling Towson to retain the lead.

The Tigers put the game away when Four McGlynn made a pair of free throws with just seven seconds remaining to make it 75-70. Abif sank a three-pointer as time expired to make the final 75-73.

Massenat led the Dragons with 18 points. He also had six rebounds and five assists and moved into Drexel's top 10 in career points with 1,498 career points. Tavon Allen added 17 points, while Abif finished with a career-high 16 points. Dartaye Ruffin led the team with 10 rebounds and moved into ninth place on the school's career rebounding list.
Rafriel Guthrie scored 18 for Towson and Marcus Damas added 16 points. The Tigers shot 58 percent from the field and 84 percent from the line.

The Dragons will have a short turn around as the team returns to the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Monday against UNC Wilmington. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
