The Dragons earned the doubles point through some impressive tennis. In No. 1 doubles, Dan Koehler and Skyler Davis kicked off the doubles point by defeating their opponents, 6-4. Both players were smart on the court and showed focus throughout the match. Badr Ouabdelmoumen and Daniel Hansen were able to get an early break and hold serve to win 6-3. They each used good movement, solid returns, and aggressive net play.
In singles play, Xabier Saavedra at No.3 was able to rally his way out of a tight situation using consistency throughout the match, and executing at opportune moments. He ended his match, 6-4, 6-5 (1). Koehler was also able to bring home a, 6-5 (5), 6-4, win, as he nailed first serves past his opponent. The moment of truth came from No. 1 Ouabdelmoumen, where he was able once again to show why he is yet to be defeated. He was down 4-1 in the first set, and aggressively climbed his way back to the top. He then fell short in the second set, but came back strong and determined to win the third. Ouabdelmoumen ended his match, 6-5 (4), 3-6, 6-1.
The men will take to the court next when they head to the Army Invitational on Saturday, February 22. They will compete against Army, St. Bonaventure, and Binghamton.
