Men's Squash Named CSA's Most Improved at Hoehn Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Drexel men's squash team made big strides in 2013-14, earning a spot in the Collegiate Squash Association's second division for its year-end team championships, the Hoehn Cup. Prior to the Dragons' consolation round matchup with Williams, the CSA announced that Drexel was its men's Most Improved Team of the year. Drexel finished the season ranked No. 16 in the nation after falling in all three of its matches at the Hoehn Cup, its highest end-of-year national ranking in three years as a varsity program.
Drexel, which came into the weekend ranked No. 14 in the nation, lost its first-round match in the Hoehn Cup to No. 11 Columbia, 8-1. The Dragons then fell in the consolation round to Williams, 6-3. Drexel's third and final match came on Sunday morning against Navy, a close battle that the Dragons dropped 5-4 to finish with the No. 16 overall ranking.
Drexel's women's team will take part in the Kurtz Cup in their team championships next weekend. The Kurtz Cup is the equivolent of the Hoehn Cup, pitting the teams ranked Nos. 9 through 16 in the nation against each other. Drexel comes into play ranked No. 13. The men will move on to individual championships, February 28 through March 2 at the University of Pennsylvania.
