Women's Tennis Defeat St. Peter's, 7-0

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's tennis squad defeated St. Peter's in a sweeping, 7-0, decision and raise their current season record to, 7-2.
The Dragons showed up with a tweaked version of their usual lineup for the Peacocks and swept doubles. Nicole Pivonka and Erin Bowsher sat at No .1 doubles and defeated their opponents, 8-2, with a high percentage of returns. At No. 2 Fiorella Coria and Lea Winkler dominated the net and took down their competition, 8-1, and Alex Bell and Aysenil Orhon won at No. 3 by default.
Singles play featured straight two set wins by Coria, Winkler, Bell, and Orhon, while Amanda Tilles and Mel Reyes won each of their matches by default. Coria took her match, 6-4, 6-2, by using good anticipation and the right angles to open up the court. Winkler executed an aggressive backhand on short balls, and won in a solid, 6-0, 6-2. At No. 3, Bell's smart shot selections paid off to give her the, 6-1, 6-0, victory. Orhon showed consistency throughout her, 6-1, 7-6 (4), win and took each point when it counted.
The women will return to the court on Sunday, March 9 against UMBC. The match is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Legacy tennis court.
