Drexel Takes Two of Three from MIT

PHILADELPHIA – After defending their Bergen Cup title in the morning on Saturday April 26, Drexel crew's men's eights took to the Schuylkill River to take on MIT.
In the first race of the afternoon, Drexel's freshmen eight beat the Drexel third varsity as well as MIT with a final time of 6:22.3. The Dragons' freshmen eight raced in the Vince Vidas boat while the third varsity was in the Joseph Greipp.
Drexel recorded another win over MIT in the men's second varsity eight race. Dragons crossed the finish line in the Annette Pennoni boat at 5:56.8, besting MIT's boat by more than 13 seconds.
To finish the day, MIT's varsity eight narrowly edged Drexel by just over one second. MIT missed a turn buoy in the race, but the Dragons waived the penalty. Drexel finished with a time of 5:47.4 in the Lois Krall boat.
The Dragons return to competition when they look to defend their team title at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta on Friday and Saturday, May 9-10.
