
Women's Crew Concludes Spring Season at CAA Championships

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel women's crew concluded the 2014 spring season at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships held at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. on Sunday, May 18. The Dragons finished competition in third place overall, winning the bronze medal in each race and improving on their fourth place team finish last season. Northeastern won its fourth CAA rowing title to advance to the NCAA tournament.
Drexel began competition when the varsity four took to lane five in the Sandra Lee Sheller boat and finished with the bronze medal for their 7:49.304 time. Northeastern won the race with a 7:30.360 time, a second and a half ahead of Buffalo.
Coming off of a silver medal finish at the Dad Vail Regatta, the second varsity eight raced from lane three in the Maria Papadakis boat and took home the bronze medal, crossing the finish line at 6:52.126. Northeastern took gold in the event with a time of 6:45.195
After finishing with the silver medal for their best finish at the Dad Vail in school history, the varsity eight took to lane three in the Marlene Buckley boat and finished with a bronze medal time of 6:45.569. Northeastern won the race with a speedy 6:38.037.
Senior varsity four rower Alyssa Leahy was honored with a selection to the CAA All-Academic team. Varsity eight seniors Elizabeth Daugherty (3-seat) and Kerry Walsh (coxswain) earned All-CAA honors.
