PHILADELPHIA – Badr Ouabdelmoumen of men's tennis and Kelsie Fye of women's soccer have been named the Colonial Marble and Granite Athletes of the Week by Drexel Athletics for the week of Sept. 17-23.
Ouabdelmoumen continued a long string of success at the Saint Joseph's Invitational, finishing as the Flight 1 singles runner-up over the weekend. The senior had a bye into Saturday where he beat Mark Miller of Villanova 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. Ouabdelmoumen then beat Pierre Brondeau of Saint Joseph's 6-7 (3), 6-4, 10-8 to play Michael Nguyen of Army, who he beat Sunday 4-6, 7-6 (3), 10-5 to reach the finals. The second place finish comes after winning the tournament in back-to-back seasons.
Fye recorded two shutouts over the weekend in home wins over George Washington and Wagner to extend her shutout streak to 259 minutes. In the Dragons' 2-0 win over George Washington on Friday, the junior goaltender made seven stops, including five in the second half alone to preserve the shutout. On Sunday, Fye made a save as Drexel went on to beat Wagner 1-0 at Vidas Field.
