Crew Captures Four Top-Five Finishes at the Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Drexel Crew recorded top-five finishes in all four races it was entered in at the Navy Day Regatta Saturday on the Schuylkill River.
In the first race of the day, the Dragons' men's second varsity eight A and B each finished in the top five, third and fourth, respectively. In the Joseph Greipp boat, the A finished third with a 12:54.68, about three seconds behind winner Navy, while the B took fourth with a 13:04.06 in the Vince Vidas boat.
The women's second varsity eight A, in the Maria Papadakis boat, crossed the finish line third out of 15 boats with a time of 14:41.75.
Drexel's varsity eights took to the water in the early afternoon. The Dragons' men's varsity eight A, in the Sandra Lee Sheller boat, finished second out of 25 boats with a time of 12:14.06, less than five seconds behind the winner, Navy. Drexel's women, in the Marlene Buckley II boat, closed out the day with a fourth-place finish out of 20 boats, with a 14:14.39.
The Dragons head to Boston, Mass. next weekend for the historic Head of the Charles Regatta, which begins Saturday.
