
Crew Earns Two Top-10 Finishes at the Head of the Charles Regatta

BOSTON - Drexel Crew concluded a successful trip to Boston on Sunday at the 51st annual Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River.
Racing began Saturday afternoon with the women's varsity eight finishing seventh in the 38-boat club eights division in the Marlene Buckley II boat. The boat raced to a time of 17:42.330. Brown won the race with a 17:09.583. The Dragons qualified for the 2016 Head of the Charles with the seventh-place finish.
On Sunday afternoon, Drexel's men's second varsity eight in the Lois Krall boat raced to an eighth-place time in the competitive 41-boat collegiate eights division. The Dragons finished with a 15:44.724, just a fraction of a second behind seventh-place UC Santa Barbara. Hobart took home the win with a 15:32.704.
Drexel's varsity eight grabbed a top-20 finish in the championship eights division in the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat. The Dragons finished with a time of 15:10.932, about a second off of Georgetown for 19th. Yale won the division with a 14:18.970.
The Dragons return to Philadelphia for competition on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. Drexel is the five-time defending champion of the event.
