Women’s Squash Starts Season 2-0, Defeats F&M, UVa on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's squash team (2-0) came away with a 5-4 victory over the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats this afternoon before defeating Virginia, 9-0, in the evening at the Kline & Specter Squash Center in the Daskalakis Athletic Center at Drexel University.
DREXEL SWEEPS VIRGINIA, 9-0
The Drexel women completed a 9-0 sweep of Virginia on Saturday night to earn their second victory on the day.
Drexel number one Hayley Hughes and number four Elisa Money both finished with two three-game wins on Saturday. In the Virginia matchup, Hughes defeated Carey Danforth, 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, while Money prevailed over Molly Prockop, 11-4, 11-7, 12-10.
Sophomore Ryan Morgan and junior Mary Fung-A-Fat both won from the number two and three positions, respectively.
Freshman Fiona Power worked her way to a five-game victory earlier in the day against Franklin & Marshall before she defeated Virginia's Lindsay Bralower in three at night, 11-2, 11-4, 11-2.
After falling to F&M, sophomore Abigail Kaplan and senior Laura Rahauser avenged their losses with sweeps against UVa.
In the ninth position, freshman Apoorva Addepalli dug herself out of an 0-2 hole to complete the comeback win over Virginia's Carolyn Grenier. Addepalli dropped the first two games, 11-3 and 11-9, before coming back to win the following three, 11-9, 11-6, 11-9, for her first collegiate victory.

DREXEL EARNS WIN OVER FRANKLIN & MARSHALL, 5-4
A year ago in the season opener, the Drexel women's team lost to the Diplomats, 7-2. On Saturday, the women turned in a 5-4 win to start the season with a victory.
Drexel sophomores Hayley Hughes and Ryan Morgan won from the first two positions against Franklin & Marshall. Hughes defeated Sherilyn Yang in straight games, 11-8, 11-7, 11-6 while Morgan came back after dropping the first game, 11-6, to win the next three, 11-6, 11-4, 11-4, for the match victory.
Junior Elisa Money also earned a sweep from the number four position for the Dragons with a win over Lauren Johnson, 11-7, 11-4, 11-4.
Freshman Fiona Power earned her first collegiate victory, defeating Ellen Verry in a match that went the distance. Power won games one, three and five. The final from that match was 11-2, 7-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9.
Senior Laura Rahauser also opened the 2015-16 campaign with a victory.
