
Crew Continues Success Sunday Against Bucknell and Lehigh

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Drexel Crew continued its strong start to the 2015 fall season with wins Sunday against Bucknell and Lehigh on the Susquehanna River.
The Dragons swept the first, second and third varsity men's races, and won the second and third varsity women's races. The men all raced together in one race, and the women all raced together in another.
In the men's race, Drexel took home the three fastest times overall. The varsity eight, in the Sandra Lee Sheller boat, bested Bucknell and Lehigh with a time of 17:41.9. The second varsity eight, racing in the Annette Pennoni boat, beat Bucknell by nearly a minute with a time of 18:18.9. Also beating Bucknell was the third varsity eight with a winning time of 17:45.0 in the Joseph Greipp boat.
In the women's race, Drexel had three of the four fastest times overall. The second varsity eight, in the Maria Papadakis boat, beat out Bucknell and Lehigh, crossing the finish line at 20:11. Also picking up a victory was the third varsity eight in the Marlene Buckley boat, winning with a time of 20:10. The varsity eight finished second to Bucknell with a time of 20:22 in the Marlene Buckley II boat after a steering malfunction at the start of the race.
Next up for the Dragons will be the Navy Day Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 10, their first competition on their home river this season.
