Men’s Swimming and Diving Defeats Bearcats, 145-98

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Drexel men's swimming and diving team earned a 145-98 victory over the Binghamton Bearcats on Saturday in Vestal, N.Y.
"I'm really happy with how the team performed today," said head coach Adam Braun. "We have had a tough week of training and it is always harder to swim on the road. Everyone had a great mindset and attitude today and it showed in their swims. Our focus now shifts to the Patriot Invite in two weeks."
Freshman Dane Bell swept the distance freestyles for the Dragons, earning first in the 500 and 1000 with a times of 4:48.89 and 9:52.16, respectively.
Sophomore J.T. Lumpkin earned his first win of the season and second of his career when he touch the wall of the 100 back at 53.03.
Senior Kyle Lukens won the 100 fly with a final time of 50.08.
Fellow senior Matthew Klotz finished with a time of 1:45.82 in the 200 free for the win on Saturday. He also finished second in the 500 free behind Bell at 4:50.20.
The Drexel foursome of senior Joel Berryman, freshman Ralph Cannarozzi III, Lukens and junior Sean Swartz also won the 200 medley relay at 1:34.61. Lukens, freshman Patrick Cobb, freshman Liam Kelly and Swartz earned first in the 200 free relay at 1:28.23.
The Dragons' swimming and diving teams are next in action at the Patriot Invitational, hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va. from Thursday, Nov. 19 through Saturday, Nov. 21.
