Squash Concludes 2014-15 Season at Individual Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Drexel men's and women's squash teams concluded the 2014-15 season at the Individual Championships at Princeton, New Jersey this weekend.

The Dragons went 7-12 overall on the weekend. Ibrahim Bakir went 4-1, Michael Thompson added a win along with Atticus Kelly and Ryan Morgan.

Bakir had the best weekend for the Dragons. The junior advanced all the way to the Molloy Division semifinals. Bakir swept Vincent Mencotti in the round of 64, Andres de Frutos in the round of 32 and Kevin Chen in the quarterfinals. Bakir did not drop his first game until the first game versus Andrew McGuinness. McGuinnes went on to defeat Bakir in four.

Thompson was in the Molloy Division Draw (Men's "B") along with Bakir. Thompson swept William MacFarlane in the round of 64 before losing to Dylan Cunningham in three in the next round.

Both Luke Willemse and Kelly lost their first round match in the men's "A" draw. Kelly fell in three to Ryosei Kobayashi and Willemse was swept by Marwan Mahmound. Kelly picked up his win in the consolation draw by default over Thomas Dembinski.

Hayley Hughes lost her round of 64 match with Elena Maria in three games. In the consolation draw Hughes lost in four to Rachel Leizman.

Mary Fung-A-Fat and Morgan were in the Holleran Division (Women's "B"). Fung-A-Fat fell in four games to Hannah Hay-Smith in the round of 64. Morgan got a bye in the opening round and lost her first match in the round of 32 to Alex Toth. Morgan then won her first match in the consolation draw before falling to Jocelyn Lehman.
