Final Team Stats
OLEAN, N.Y. -- The Drexel golf team opened the 2015-16 season in fine fashion with a victory at the Keenan Invitational hosted by Saint Bonaventure. The Dragons shot a 284 during Day 2 to overcome a seven-stroke deficit to pick up the win. Drexel finished the tournament at 579 and was led by Chris Crawford. The senior fired a 68 in the final round.
Crawford, the reigning CAA Player of the Year, had a remarkable run down the stretch. After a rare triple bogey on the ninth hole, he shot six-under par over his final nine holes to finish at 141 overall. Crawford wasn't the only bright spot for the Dragons. Yoseph Dance shot even par in the second round at the par 70 course at the Bartlett Country Club. Dance finished the tournament at 143, just three shot over par. Aaron Fricke, a transfer from Lackawanna College, began his career at Drexel with a 73-75-148. Freshman Mike Cook carded a one-over-par 71 on Day 2 and finished his first tournament as a Dragon at 149.
Drexel will look for back-to-back wins in the state of New York beginning Friday. The Dragons play in the Columbia/Tuxedo Autumn Invitational in Tuxedo Park.
