No. 9 Women’s Squash Defeats No. 23 Wesleyan, Falls to No. 8 Cornell

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team (7-3) split a pair of matches on Saturday. The Dragons first fell to the No. 8 Cornell Big Red by a final of 7-2 before defeating No. 23 Wesleyan, 8-1. The women will now prep for No. 4 Stanford on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and then Mount Holyoke at 12:30 p.m. to close out the weekend.
Afternoon Match: Dragons Defeat No. 23 Wesleyan
Every match against Wesleyan ended in a sweep; eight went in favor of the Dragons.
Sophomore Ryan Morgan won her No. 2 position match, 11-5, 11-6, 11-3 over Liza Bayless.
Junior Mary Fung-A-Fat grabbed a 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 victory against Bridget Doherty from the No. 3 spot.
Freshman Fiona Power won in the No. 4 spot while Abigail Kaplan earned a win in the No. 5.
Junior Maria Diagama, senior Laura Rahauser and freshman Apoorva Addepalli all swept the No. 6 through 8 matches.
Freshman Kathryn Bottger played in her first match with Drexel on Saturday and defeated Wesleyan's Ellen Paik from the No. 9 position, 11-6, 11-0, 11-2.

Sophomore Hayley Hughes improved to 7-2 individually on the year with an 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6 victory over Cornell's Michele Garceau from the No. 1 position for the Dragons.
Freshman Fiona Power also earned her seventh win on the campaign from the No. 5 spot over Charlotte Knaggs of the Big Red.
The women will look to get back on track later this afternoon against No. 23 Wesleyan.
Following this weekend's matches, the Drexel women will host No. 13 George Washington on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. from the Kline & Specter Center in the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
