ATLANTA – Drexel junior Rachel Bernhardt of the women's swimming team will represent the Dragons at the 2016 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships this week at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. She becomes the first Drexel swimmer, from both the women's and men's programs, to qualify for NCAAs.
Bernhardt will swim in the 100 breaststroke on Friday, March 18 and the 200 breaststroke on Saturday. Prelims will take place at 10 a.m. each day followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
She will also swim in a long course, timed trial for the 200 breast on Sunday.
The Drexel junior qualified for NCAAs with times of 1:00.65 in the 100 breast and 2:10.89 in the 200 breast, both school records which she set as she earned the first two gold medals for the women's program at the 2016 CAA Swimming Championships in late February.
The women's national championships run from Wednesday, March 16 through Saturday, March 19. Every session of the four-day meet will be streamed live online.
