Crew Sweeps Competition Saturday Morning at the Rumson Boat Race

RUMSON, N.J. – Drexel Crew started its season off with a sweep Saturday at the Rumson Boat Race on the Navesink River. Due to the weather conditions, races were ran as timed pieces as opposed to the usual 2,000-meter course.

The Dragons earned a sweep of the men's varsity eight, women's varsity eight, men's second varsity eight and women's second varsity eight races while fighting through windy conditions. It marks the third year in a row the Dragons have won each race they entered at Rumson. Competition included the usual suspects in Rumson -- Army West Point, Rutgers and Villanova.

Drexel's lineup included the Marlene Buckley II boat (women's varsity eight), the Lois Krall boat (men's varsity eight), the Maria Papadakis boat (women's second varsity eight) and the Joseph Greipp boat (men's second varsity eight).

The Dragons return to action Saturday, Oct. 15 with their first race of the year on the Schuylkill at the Navy Day Regatta.
