Men’s Swimming Takes Down NJIT, Howard on Sunday from Newark, N.J.

RESULTS
NEWARK, N.J. – The Drexel men's swimming team defeated both NJIT, 137-120, and Howard, 170-76, in a three-team meet hosted by NJIT in Newark, N.J. on Sunday afternoon.
The men turned in 11 of the 14 fastest times on Sunday.
In the four, 50-yard sprint events, Drexel dominated with Alberto Lagrutta Saenz taking the backstroke at 24.81, Joseph Brown in the breaststroke at 28.83, JT Lumpkin in the butterfly at 23.84 and Stathis Malamas at 22.10.
Continuing with the freestyle events, the Dragons won all six events including the relay. In addition to Malamas in the 50-yard freestyle, Jason Arthur took the 100-yard freestyle behind a time of 47.43, Patrick Cobb won the 200-yard freestyle at 1:43.95, Malamas again won the 500-yard freestyle as he touched the wall at 4:52.26 while Brown grabbed first in the 1000-yard freestyle at 9:57.07
Brown, Sean Swartz, Harrison Schultz, David Kneiss combined for the fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:29.46
The men opened the event with a 200-yard medley relay victory behind Liam McLaughlin, Arthur, Luke Hanner and Spencer Hill at 1:39.30.
Arthur also won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.31.
The Dragons now return home as the squads play host to Georgetown on Saturday, January 21 in the final home meet of the year. Action begins at 1 p.m. from the Daskalakis Athletic Center as Drexel will honor its senior class beforehand.
