Men’s Swimming Edges Out Lehigh in Bethlehem for Saturday Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drexel men's swimming team (8-1) edged out Lehigh in a dual meet on Saturday by a final of 144-118 from Jacobs Pool in Bethlehem, Pa.

Freshman Jason Arthur set two pool records at Lehigh in the win, including the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley.

The Teaneck, N.J. native won three individual events and added to a first-place relay victory. Arthur won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:48.10 and the 200-yard individual medley at 1:50.47 to set new pool records at Lehigh's Jacobs Pool; both also came as the fastest Drexel dual meet times in school history. The freshman also won the 100-yard backstroke when he touched the wall at 51.50 and helped the men open the dual with a 200-yard medley relay victory with a time of 1:34.70.

Sophomore Patrick Cobb turned in a huge 1000-yard freestyle as he won the event with a time of 9:35.49 for the fastest dual meet time in Drexel history.

Fellow sophomore Ralph Cannarozzi III and Joseph Brown each won the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke behind times of 58.05 and 2:08.29, respectively.

Sophomore Dane Bell won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:39.77.

Drexel returns to the pool next weekend for a two-day meet in Christiansburg, Va. at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4 and Sunday, Feb. 5.
