Men's Tennis Competes at Temple Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's tennis team played a pair of matches against Temple and Bucknell at the Temple Invitational over the weekend, having continued success as the Dragons wind down their fall season.
Drexel opened the weekend by taking on the host Owls, winning three individual matches. Sinan Orhon and Bernard Tefel won a doubles match 7-6 (5) over Thomas Sevel and Alberto Casas. Orhon also won his singles match, a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Juan Araoz. Meanwhile, Youssef Lahlou took his singles point, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 against Mark Wallner.
The following morning, the Dragons won seven of the 10 total matches played against Bucknell, including two doubles points and five of seven singles matches. Tefel and Orhon were again successful in doubles, taking down Max Kane and Ben Gerber, 6-2. Lahlou and Hamza Laalej won 7-5 against Colin Sacco and Max McDonald.
In singles play, Orhon, Laalej and Tefel all won their points at the top of the ladder. Orhon defeated Kane, 8-6, and Tefel took down Gerber by the same score. Laalej defeated Max McDonald, 8-4, out of the No.2 position.
Xandy Hammitt took his match against Timber Erskine, 8-3. Lahlou, playing Sacco, also won by that score.
The Dragons will now prepare for the ITA Regional tournament to be held this week at Yale University. More details on participating players will be forthcoming.
