Rowing Earns a Top-10 Finish Sunday at the Head of the Charles Regatta

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel rowing team completed competition Sunday at the 53rd annual Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River. The Dragons' men's second varsity eight earned the team's best finish, crossing the finish line eighth in the collegiate eight division.
The Dragons resumed action on Sunday, beginning with men's varsity eight, racing in the Lois Krall II boat, finishing 22nd of 26 boats with a time of 14:17.958. The men's second varsity eight then followed with the Dragons' best finish of the event, taking eighth with a final time of 14:41.695 in the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat. Closing out Sunday's action, the women's varsity eight finished 35th of 36 with a time of 16:57.553.
Drexel's women's second varsity eight opened the Dragons' weekend on the Charles River's winding race course on Saturday afternoon in the Marlene Buckley II boat in the club eight division, which has 40 entries. The Dragons finished 12th with a time of 17:21.555.
Drexel assistant coach Corlis Gross raced in the club single on Sunday morning with her hometown club, Cambridge. She finished fifth overall in the category.
Following this weekend's action, the Dragons will continue the fall season next weekend with two races, the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 28 and the Princeton Chase on Sunday, Oct. 29.
