
Rowing Wins Twice Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel rowing team opened its busy weekend Saturday with two victories at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on the Schuylkill River.
The men's second varsity eight A, racing in the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat, comfortably paced the 38-boat club eight division with a time of 13:28.074 and bested second-place Penn by nearly 10 seconds. Drexel's women's freshmen eight also came away with a victory. Racing in the Maria Papadakis boat, the Dragons raced to a time of 15:54.614, beating second-place Duquesne by nearly five seconds.
Drexel's men's freshmen eight A, racing in the Joseph Greipp boat, got the day started with a second-place time of 13:51.908, less than a second behind first-place Saint Joseph's. The Dragons' B boat also earned a top-five finish with a time of 14:25.479. The women's second varsity eight, racing in the Cara Fry boat, finished third overall with a final time of 15:50.194. Closing out the day, the women's varsity eight, racing in the new Alleva XVII boat, finished third with a time of 15:31.878. The men's varsity eight, racing in the Lois Krall II boat, took fifth overall and third amongst collegiate boats with a time of 13:17.175.
The Dragons continue their weekend tomorrow with the top three eights on the men's and women's teams at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie.

The men's second varsity eight A, racing in the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat, comfortably paced the 38-boat club eight division with a time of 13:28.074 and bested second-place Penn by nearly 10 seconds. Drexel's women's freshmen eight also came away with a victory. Racing in the Maria Papadakis boat, the Dragons raced to a time of 15:54.614, beating second-place Duquesne by nearly five seconds.
Drexel's men's freshmen eight A, racing in the Joseph Greipp boat, got the day started with a second-place time of 13:51.908, less than a second behind first-place Saint Joseph's. The Dragons' B boat also earned a top-five finish with a time of 14:25.479. The women's second varsity eight, racing in the Cara Fry boat, finished third overall with a final time of 15:50.194. Closing out the day, the women's varsity eight, racing in the new Alleva XVII boat, finished third with a time of 15:31.878. The men's varsity eight, racing in the Lois Krall II boat, took fifth overall and third amongst collegiate boats with a time of 13:17.175.
The Dragons continue their weekend tomorrow with the top three eights on the men's and women's teams at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie.
