Women's Squash Sweeps No. 23 Dickinson Saturday to Open Season, 9-0

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team rolled to a 9-0 shutout victory Saturday afternoon in its season opener over No. 23 Dickinson at the Kline & Specter Squash Center. The Dragons did not drop a game the entire match.
The Dragons' freshmen class shined in the first matches of their respective collegiate careers. Mariam Kamal breezed past Hedvika Suchankova in the top ladder position, 11-4, 11-7, 11-4, followed by senior standout Hayley Hughes cruising past Domenica Romo, 11-5, 11-3, 11-5, at No. 2. In the third spot, senior Ryan Moran took down Eloise Nimoityn, 11-3, 11-1, 11-1, while freshman Hannah Blatt made quick work of Jamie-Leigh Edghill at No. 4, 11-0, 11-2, 11-0. Junior Fiona Power defeated Stuart Lemay in the middle spot, 11-5, 11-7, 11-4, followed by freshman Ona Prokes' first career victory over Nicole DeLuca, 11-1, 11-6, 11-5. Freshman Stephanie Ryan downed Aya Sobhy, 11-1, 11-5, 11-3, then Apoorva Addepalli defeated Annie Wingerd, 11-4, 11-2, 11-7, and Emma MacGillivray beat out Alanis Perez, 11-7, 11-2, 11-1, to close out the victory.

The Dragons (1-0) return to action tomorrow at No. 2 Penn in a match beginning at noon to close out the season-opening Pennsylvania State Classic.
