With just over three minutes to go, the Dragons finally made it a one-possession game when Kurk Lee sank a three pointer, making it 71-68. After each team came up with stops, Lee got the ball into Austin Williams who scored on a short jumper to cut the lead to one. Drexel made two more stops on the defensive end and after a Drake foul, Williams was sent to the line. He made one of two with just 21 seconds left. Drake's Nick McGlynn had a chance for the win but this jumper missed and the game went to the first extra period. The Dragons ended regulation on a 7-0 run and held the Bulldogs scoreless the final 4:24 of the half.
Drexel shot 43 percent from the floor and held the offensive-minded Bulldogs to just 40 percent, including 33 percent in the second half. Isabell finished 11-for-20 and had eight rebounds to go along with his 32 points.
