Men's Tennis Sweeps Sacred Heart Saturday at RiverWinds, 5-0

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. – The Drexel men's tennis team earned a 5-0 sweep Saturday over Sacred Heart at RiverWinds. The Dragons also got a sweep from the women, 6-0.

Drexel's men improve to 5-3 on the year, while the women are now 8-1. Both the women and men only played singles matches.

Drexel's men swept the five singles matches they played to earn the 5-0 win. Hamza Laalej took down Cory Seltman in the top spot, 6-1, 6-4, while Balaji Lakshmanan blew past Seiji Hosokowa, 6-0, 6-2, in the second. Sinan Orhon downed Bryan Einstoss, 6-2, 6-4, while Alex Zenonos bumped up to No. 4 to beat Francisco Del Valle Diaz, 6-3, 7-6 (5). Youssef Lahlou closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Matt Surprenant.

The Dragons' women swept the six singles matches to come away with the win. Honami Yazawa downed Brianne Lauria, 7-5, 6-1, in the top spot, while Kendra Bunch took down Taylor Gurda, 6-3, 6-4, in the second. The Dragons cruised the rest of the way with Ghita Benhadi picking up a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Adrianne Alfonso in the three, while Lea Winkler earned the sweep over Tori Oates, 6-0, 6-0. At the bottom third of the lineup, Clary Rodriguez Cruz downed Maggie Glynn, 6-1, 6-2, and Ryshena Providence closed it out with a 6-0, one-set win over Nicole Vassalle.

The Dragons will close out a busy weekend on Sunday when they host Fairfield at RiverView at 11:30 a.m.
