Men's Tennis Defeats Fairfield Sunday Afternoon at RiverWinds, 4-2

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. -- The Drexel men's tennis team completed an undefeated weekend Sunday with a 4-2 victory over Fairfield at RiverWinds. Drexel's women also picked up a 5-1 win over the Stags.

Drexel's men are now 6-3 on the year, while women stand at 9-1 overall. Both teams again only play singles.

Drexel's men dropped matches in the top two spots, but the bottom of the lineup picked them up in the 4-2 win. Balaji Lakshmanan played his way to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Jeffrey Rodgers in the third spot to get the Dragons going, followed by a three-set 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 win from Youssef Lahlou over Tyler Shibles. In the final two spots, Alex Zenonos blew past Dylan Appel, 6-2, 6-0, while Daniil Ginzburg beat Peter Colliard, 6-3, 6-0.

The Dragons' women quickly jumped on the Stags and never looked back in their 5-1 win. Honami Yazawa grabbed a quick 6-3, 6-0 win over Sarah Stuhlman in the top spot, followed by Ghita Benhadi's victory over Diana Prinos, 7-5, 6-2. Clary Rodriguez Cruz cruised past Jessica Pil, 6-0, 6-2 in the third spot, while Ryshena Providence earned a 6-3, 6-3, win over Shelby Vertula. Jennifer White closed things out with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Karen McKeough.

The Dragons return to action Saturday night when they host Villanova at Legacy Center.
