INDIANAPOLIS – Drexel senior standout Rachel Bernhardt, who became the first DI Drexel swimmer to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors last night in the 100-yard breaststroke, closed out her trip at the 2017 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday morning with the 200-yard breaststroke prelims.
From the IU Natatorium on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind., the Drexel senior finished her 200-yard breaststroke prelims in heat four from lane five with a time of 2:12.22.
The time placed her fourth of eight in heat four and 43rd of 66 total entries as she missed out on the evening finals.
Last night, Bernhardt turned in a time of 1:00.21 in the 'B' finals of the 100-yard breaststroke from lane seven to finish in 16th place overall. It came as her second-fastest time ever after the Vineland, New Jersey native turned in a Drexel record and personal best of 59.68 in the prelims earlier in the day. She earned Honorable Mention All-American honors for her finals finish, which is a program first for Drexel swimming since its move to Division I.
