SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Drexel women's tennis team fell Wednesday afternoon to the Santa Clara Broncos at the Degheri Tennis Center, 4-1.
The loss drops the Dragons to 13-5 (1-0 CAA) on the year, while the Broncos improve to 5-7 (0-2 WCC).
The Dragons could not grab the momentum out of the gates, losing the top two doubles matches, 6-1 and 6-3, respectively. In singles, it was another strong Santa Clara performance, as the Dragons fell at Nos. 1, 4 and 5 to drop the match. Ryshena Providence did earn a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Giannina Ong in the sixth spot, but that would be the most the Dragons could muster.
Drexel closes out its spring break trip Thursday when the men's team takes on Sacramento States at 4 p.m. (EST). The women's team returns to the court Sunday afternoon when it takes on UNCW in a conference matchup on a neutral court in Towson, Md.
