Wrestling Handles Columbia Saturday Evening, 27-9

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Drexel wrestling team won its second EIWA match of the day Saturday night as the Dragons defeated the Columbia Lions in New York City, 27-9. The Dragons improved to 8-2 (3-2 EIWA) on the season with the victory.
After dropping 285 to start the match, the Dragons came back with wins at 125, 133, 141 and 149 to take control. Zack Fuentes earned a 14-6 major decision over Spencer Good, followed by an Austin DeSanto 23-7 technical fall over Alec Kelly. Julian Flores then came away with a major decision over Val Miek, 10-1, while Trevor Elfvin used a stall warning point in overtime to beat Jacob Macalolooy, 7-6. After dropping 157 pounds, the Dragons came back with a 12-1 major decision by Ebed Jarrell over Lawrence Kosoy, while Alex Deciantis then earned a 10-3 decision over Andrew Psomas at 184 pounds. Stephen Loiseau then major decisioned Michael Bulkin, 16-6, at 197 to close things out in New York City.
The Dragons return to the mat on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they host EIWA foe Binghamton at 7 p.m. at the Daskalakis Athletic Center as part of Homecoming Weekend.
