Men's Varsity 8 Takes Second Sunday at Head of the Charles Regatta

BOSTON — The Drexel men's varsity eight took second place Sunday at the annual Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boson, Mass. The women's second varsity eight's ninth-place finish Saturday was improved to a seventh-place finish after two late exclusions.

The men's varsity eight, racing in the Lois Krall II boat, took second place in a field of 35 boats with a time of 16:05.830 to hold off third-place MIT by 0.012 seconds. Michigan won the race with the only sub-16 time, 15:58.108.

Racing in the Sandra Lee Sheller I boat, the women's second varsity eight officially finished seventh overall with a time of 17:28.363. The time was just 0.124 seconds behind CAA rival Northeastern for eighth. Harvard won with a time of 16:57.563.

The Dragons return to action next weekend at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday before racing on Lake Carnegie Sunday at the Princeton Chase.
