Rowing Takes Top 5 Collegiate Times in Each Category at Head of the Schuylkill

RESULTS

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel rowing team finished with top-five finishes among collegiate competition Saturday in each category it entered at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on the Schuylkill River. The men's and women's freshmen eights led the way with second-place times, while the men's varsity eight and the women's second varsity eight A each finished third among collegiate boats.

The men's freshmen eight, racing in the Annette Pennoni boat, finished second of 22 boats with at time of 12:48.439 behind only Navy, while the women's freshmen eight, racing in the Maria Papadakis boat, took second of 29 boats with a time of 14:32.281, just six-tenths of a second off Temple's pace. The Dragons' top men's eight raced in the Lois Krall II boat and finished third among collegiate boats and fifth overall with a time of 12:05.597. The time was just 1.1 seconds behind Navy for second. The women's second varsity eight A, racing in the Cara Fry boat, took third of 50 boats in the Club Championship division with a time of 13:53.581.

Rounding out the Dragons' top-five finishes on the day were a fourth-place time from the men's second varsity eight A and the women's varsity eight (collegiately). The men, racing in the Sandra Lee Sheller II boat, took fourth out of 44 boats with a final time of 12:25.927, just a couple seconds behind Navy C for third. The women's varsity eight finished fifth among collegiate boats and sixth overall with a time of 13:50.013 in the Alleva XVII boat. The time was 1.1 seconds behind Temple for fourth.
