Rutgers Downs Dragons, 95-66

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers used a big second half to defeat Drexel, 95-66, at the Rutgers Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped Drexel's record to 0-2, while the Scarlet Knights are now 2-0.
Drexel trailed by only three early in the second half after a Troy Harper bucket. However, Rutgers answered with a 23-4 run midway through the second half to break the game open. Drexel was never able to get back in the game.
Kurk Lee led Drexel with 16 points and had four three-pointers. Alihan Demir added 14 points. Rutgers had a balanced scoring attack with five players scoring at least 10 points.
Eugene Omoruyi led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Geo Baker added 20 points and six assists. Issa Thiam was 4-for-6 from deep for the Knights, who shot 52 percent in the game and made 14 three-pointers.
Rutgers came out firing from the tip. The Scarlet Knights made four of their first five three-pointers and opened up an early 29-16 lead. Drexel chipped away at the lead and cut it to five point in the final minute before Geo Baker scored the final points of the half to make it 44-37 at intermission. He led all players with 15 points in the first half.
Drexel will return home to Philadelphia to get ready for its home opener on Wednesday. The Dragons will host Bryn Athyn at 7 p.m. at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
