PHILADELPHIA – Six of Drexel's varsity athletic teams scored 100 percent on the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) announced by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon. Overall, Drexel Athletics scored 89 percent on the GSR.
For the second straight year, a men's team and five women's teams scored 100 percent. On the men's side, basketball scored perfect on the GSR. The women's teams with 100 percent were lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, and tennis. The GSR is a measure that the NCAA uses to evaluate academic performance and includes first time freshmen student-athletes from the 2010-11 cohort, mid-year freshmen student-athletes and those student-athletes that transferred into the institution. It also subtracts student-athletes who leave the institution with allowable exclusions and those that would have been academically eligible to compete had they returned to the institution.
"Our student-athletes are dedicated both on the field and in the classroom," said Drexel Associate Athletic Director for Academics Kathleen O'Brien. "We are proud of all that they accomplish during their academic and athletic careers at Drexel."
