PHILADELPHIA – Drexel men's basketball head coach Zach Spiker announced the signings of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. T.J. Bickerstaff and Mate Okros have committed to play for the Dragons beginning in the fall of 2019.
Bickerstaff is a 6-foot-8 forward. He comes to Drexel after attending Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Ga. Last season, Bickerstaff averaged 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds for a team that advanced to the semifinals of the 4A state playoffs. He was also named to the 2018 OTR All-Hoops Showcase First Team. Bickerstaff is the nephew of J.B. Bickerstaff, the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Okros comes to Drexel after attending Myerscough College in the United Kingdom. Okros is a 6-foot-5 guard who can play three positions. This past season, Okros represented Great Britain at the 2018 FIBA U18 European Championships in Latvia. He was the top-ranked player at the Luol Deng Camp in August and was the captain of the Great Britain Under-16 team a year ago. He is originally from Hungary.
"We are excited to have T.J. and Mate join the Drexel family," said Spiker. "Both of these student-athletes bring size, length and skill to our program. They fit our values and bring high levels of gratitude, respect and a fierce competitive edge. They are excited to be part of Drexel University and our basketball program. I think our fans and administration will enjoy watching them play and having them represent our University."
