Bailey Greenberg Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. - Bailey Greenberg has led the Drexel women's basketball team in scoring in each of the team's first five games, and has been the top rebounder in three of those five. On Monday, Greenberg earned her first Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week award, two days after leading the Dragons to a championship in the TD Bank Classic at Vermont. Greenberg's weekly award is the first of the year for the Dragons.

Greenberg opened her tournament with a 19-point, five-rebound performance in the team's 51-39 victory over Siena on Friday evening. She went 7-for-14 from the floor and added a pair of steals as Drexel never trailed in the win over the Saints. Less than 24 hours later, the junior from North Wales topped herself with a career-high 22 points to go along with eight boards and two more steals as Drexel again led wire-to-wire in the championship game against the host Vermont Catamounts. Greenberg scored 10 points in the first quarter to keep Drexel in front by two after the opening quarter. She added four more early in the second quarter as the game remained tight, then capped an 11-0 Dragons run just before the half with a three-pointer that sent the team into the locker room up 35-22.

A Preseason First Team All-CAA selection, Greenberg is one of five Dragons ever to earn All-CAA recognition after both her freshman and sophomore seasons. Through five games this season, she is averaging 19.0 points and 7.2 rebounds a contest, both tops on the team. She is also shooting at a .507 clip from the field.

Greenberg and the Dragons will return to action on Wednesday evening when they head uptown to take on La Salle at 7 p.m. The game is the second of three intra-city rivalry games for the Dragons, who already defeated Saint Joseph's at home this season and will host Penn at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 21.
