WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The No. 9 Drexel men's squash team defeated No. 21 Williamstown on Saturday afternoon, 7-2, to improve its record to 3-3 overall. The highlight of the match was Royston Raymond's victory in the No. 7 spot against Ben Eisenberg.
Filip Krueger, Luke Willemse and Noel Heaton defeated their opponents in straight sets while Matias Knudsen and Dylan Kachur won in four-game victories. Royston Raymond had an impressive 3-2 win against his opponent, Ben Eisenberg. Raymond clinched the first game easily before being pegged back quickly. The third game saw Raymond reverse a 4-10 deficit leveling the game at 10-10. The next point saw some superlative defense from Raymond, before he received a tough refereeing decision, as a double bounce was called to the disbelief of the crowd and coaches, losing the point. Raymond then lost the next point and the game. At 2-1 down Raymond regrouped excellently to win the fourth game with ease, 11-1. The fifth game saw Raymond coming from behind on several occasions, crucially from 7-9 down to 9-9. With a cross-court drive nick winner, followed by a backhand volley drop error from his opponent, Raymond clinched an epic match 3-2.
Drexel will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 6 when it takes on Princeton in a home match at 6:30 p.m.
